May!

Currently my desktop is at Best Buy for a new power supply. Twice, the Geek Squad tried to sell me a year of tech support and virus scan for $199. Seriously? Tech support for what? I didn't fall for it. And I'm not taking my computer back there anymore.

Yesterday was rough. I went in to work early for a meeting. Turns out the room had changed to a different building and no one bothered to tell me except in an email, which I didn't come in early enough to check. I hate being late for meetings, especially meetings with Headquarters analysts, but my boss still wanted me to go, so I showed up 10 minutes late. I have a meeting at the beginning of my shift today. I hope to make it in to work early enough to check my email today in case it moved.

The photos from the rest of SXSW are on my desktop, and I'm using my laptop right now, so I plan on continuing this post later tonight. But I will leave you with some photos from Devo on March 27, 2011 at ACL Live at the Moody Theater. It was a great show and they were awesome. It was my first time to see them. These pictures are taken from general admission.

On a personal note

I miss my dog. She is at my parent's house right now and I haven't had time to go get her. I'm going tomorrow, no matter how early I need to get up. Also, I lost 7.2 lbs in April. Right on target. Yay me!

SXSW Day 1

So on Wednesday, 3/16/2011, we started off at Beauty Bar for the second half of Ty Segall. After that we stayed there for the Obits.

After that we headed over to La Zona Rosa to get in line for the awesome Rolling Stone party lineup. Started with Beast Make Bomb. I had never heard them before. They were alright.

Next up was J Mascis. This show was really great. I had never heard any of his solo stuff. I really, really liked it alot.

Next up was Mini Mansions. I didn't actually get any photos from this show. They were interesting though. I've never seen a band where the drummer is the lead singer and he actually stands at the front of the stage playing drums. The Black Angels were up next. I was already a pretty big Black Angels fan and have seen them a handful of times. They did not disappoint. They put on a really great show. And then of course, last but not least, Queens of the Stone Age. I had never seen them live before. Wow. I am such a fan now. I was unaware Josh Homme was such a dirty guy. And I don't mean his hygiene. And I got to watch the show with one of my best friends who is a HUGE QOTSA fan. :)

Wednesday was a very long day, and I managed not to get hammered.

Life in General

I made a bet with myself. Because I'm turning 35 this year, I'm gonna try to lose 35 lbs by my birthday. If I do, I'm going to get myself a new car for my birthday. If I don't, I'll have to wait until next year for the car. I'm not going to post any lame thermometer type thing on the side of my blog. This is not going to ever be a weightloss blog. Just writing about what is going on with me right now. I hope to be cooking at least on the weekends and trying new stuff, which I want to post photos of. Next week I am keeping my parents' dogs. I hope to capture some cuteness there with Roxy, Romeo and Rascal. I have been knitting and crocheting and I do have some photos to post but its late and can wait until tomorrow. So for now I will leave you with a cute picture of a bunny, for Easter is coming. This photo is from Cute Overload.

SXSW posts are coming!

So the Sunday before SXSW, March 13th, there was a free show at the Mohawk, my favorite Austin live music venue. I saw Bare Wires, Thee Oh Sees, Mister Heavenly, and Ted Leo. I was really excited about seeing Ted Leo solo. I didn't get any pictures from this show, but here is the poster. If you haven't ever listened to Ted Leo you should check him out.

So I took it easy on Monday and actually went to work, had to rest up for the rest of the week. On Tuesday, March 15th, I went to a pre-SXSW party sponsored by Swamp at Klub Krucial:
Klub Krucial was dirty and the floor was covered with sticky carpet. What better place to see an awesome metal show. We saw Mammoth Grinder, The Roller, HOD, and Kylesa. My friend Jay captured these photos of Kylesa in the wild.

Had a really great time! Hopefully a Wednesday update will come tomorrow!

Update!

This picture is from Erin McKeown and Carrie Rodriguez at the Cactus Cafe on 2/22/2011. What a great venue for them. And afterwards I bought the latest CD from each of them. I got to meet Erin and she signed my CD. Erin's latest CD is Hundreds of Lions. Carrie's is Love and Circumstance.

These 2 photos are from a Doug Burr show at the Mohawk on 3/5/2011. This show was pretty good. I've never considered myself a Doug Burr fan, I went out there to hang out with some friends, but I enjoyed myself.

Other music related topics: I bought some CDs this weekend.

These 2 Decemberists albums: The Crane Wife and Castaways and Cutouts

I have crocheted things to post on here, but it is 3:41am and I don't feel like uploading them from my camera. Coming up will be my SXSW recap as well as more finished objects and an update on the film I am currently working on, Flocker. Also I am getting some film developed that I took with my lomography camera. I'll post them if they come out interesting. As I'm composing this post, I am listening to Sgt. Pepper's. That's all for now, off to bed.

Format Change

Okay, so this is no longer going to be just a fiber related blog. I'm changing the format at bit for it to include other creative aspects of my life, which will include music, books, cooking and such. I've also been sort of organizing my photos, so as I find things I made that never got posted here, I will post.

This is the Sweet Pea Shawl pattern from Stitch 'N Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker. I made this for my mom for Christmas in the fall of '09. It came out great. I left off the tassels.

I am currently reading Marvel 1602. Trying to finish up now since it is a borrowed book. I am also reading More Than You Know by Beth Gutcheon. I think my sister gave me this book a while back. The first five pages were boring, so I'm having a hard time getting in to it. But I'll give it another go after I'm done with the graphic novel.

So I'm compiling my SXSW 2011 information right now. Look for an update for that in the next few days!

Fall is here!

Time to dust off the old blog and give her another whirl. Currently I am trying to finish the Harry Potter scarf I started 3 years ago. Here's hopin'!
