Happy New Year!

Starting off the new year in a very good mood. I made this hat the week before Christmas. It is from the Crochet Pattern A Day 2007 calendar, but the pattern can be found here.

And this is the beginning of Mia's Summer the skunk pattern which can be found here.
I am making it for a co-worker that loves skunks. I finished an arm today, which is not in the picture. Other than that, all is well. I got some cool stuff for Christmas. A couple of knitting books. Then I bought some for myself because I was feeling down. But life is looking back up again. I don't stay down for long anyway. :)

Whew!

I finished this snowman for my mom. I gave it to her at Thanksgiving. My brother got married the day after Thanksgiving, I will post a picture soon.
And I've been working on the Seraphina's Shawl for my grandmother for Christmas. I finished it yesterday. It is very warm with the yarn that I used. I like it a lot.
I haven't posted in a while because work and life have been stressful. I plan on working on lots of new projects in the upcoming months and finishing the 3 works in progress that I've got going on right now. With the new year, I also plan on getting my apartment more organized and finishing up other non-fiber related projects that I've started this year.

Happy Birthday Roxy!

Today is my Roxy's birthday. She is two. She wore this party hat for about 1 minute and then tried to eat it.
In this next picture, she is staring at a treat.
And I finished another Snuggly Scarf. I also finished the City Girl Cap, but I didn't like the picture I took.

Ravelry!!!

I've been neglecting my blog while I update my profile on Ravelry. Sorry. I've started two new projects. The Snuggly Scarf and City Girl Cap, both from Crochet-Pattern-a-Day Calendar 2007. I am loving the hat so far. And I'm using Patons SWS, which I am loving also. I was hoping to get to post on Halloween, but time eluded me.

I also wanted to tell you about Stitch. It is a runway/craft show highlighting Austin designers. I am very excited about it. It is November 10th, so if anyone is in the area, you should check it out.

New FOs!

Here is the finished hat I was making. Its alright. For some reason, I can never make hats that I am completely happy with. We'll have to see.
Here is the beginning of the House Scarf from Charmed Knits. I plan to work on it alot this weekend while I am in Galveston for my mom's birthday.
On a different note, I just want to say that I finally got onto Ravelry and I really like it. I feel kinda weird with the friend thing though, because I don't have any knitting friends really. The only person I've added as a friend is a podcaster that I listen too. I hope she doesn't think it's weird that she's my only friend, I just haven't had too much time to spend looking for people to add. I'm trying to get my profile up to date. It is way off. I only have a few projects posted, and I am gonna be out of town this weekend, so I can't add anything this weekend. Whatever, I think I'm worrying about it too much. Ravelry is a great way to make some knitting friends, right?

Yarn excursions

A new yarn store opened here in Austin. The Knitting Nest. I bought 5 skeins of Cascade 220 to cast on a Slytherin scarf using the pattern from Charmed Knits. And then I bought a skein of Cascade 220 Quatro to make the Hot Head beanie from Stitch 'N Bitch: The Knitter's Handbook. Yeah!
Here is my WIP of Monsters Under the Bed from Anapaula's etsy shop. I've finished the arms, I just need to do the feet.
This is a hat from a free pattern on Caron's website. I may have to rip it all out if it ends up being too small. I have a big head, and crochet isn't very stretchy. I didn't understand how to make the gauge swatch.
And here is my gauge swatch for my ruffled jacket from Crochet Today! I had to use an M hook, the pattern calls for an I hook, so I am quite a tight crocheter. I like it and hope that it turns out well. I plan on starting the actual garment tonight.

Introducing Momo!!!

I finished her today. Here are the stats:
Started: 10/24/2006
Finished: 10/05/2007
Yarn: Lionbrand Jiffy in Country Green 1 1/2 skeins
I had complications with this one. I ran out of yarn after the first skein and couldn't find the color again. When I did find it, I just couldn't finish. So I haven't worked on it since before Christmas. Well, I'm glad that I finally finished her.

new stuff

I knit this washcloth. It is from a graph in Stitch 'N Bitch: The Knitter's Handbook.
I am working on Momo the Octopus again, finally. I have 4 of the legs done. Four more to go.
And finally, my mom picked up a bag of stuff for me at a garage sale. Included was this. I didn't know what it was until I could get home and look it up on the internet. I don't know how to use it yet, but I will one day.
She also got this. It is three balls of handspun camel hair blend, from Saudi Arabia, the garage sale lady said. It is pretty course, so I think I might make a belt or something out of it. Not sure yet. It seems kind of dirty too. So I will definitely hand wash whatever I make out of it before I can use it.
Then there are 12 balls of 100% mohair yarn from Italy. They are 88yd balls according to the label. They are pretty dirty too. I can't wait to make something out of them though. There was also a very nice set of knitting needles. Anyway, as soon as I finish Momo, I think I might make something for Halloween. I can't believe I'm only working on one project right now.

I'm back.

Not that I was ever gone. I was changing ISPs. So here is the finished Li'l Monkey set from Stitch 'N Bitch the Happy Hooker.

Here is a picture from Austin City Limits Festival. Good times.

I have more FOs to post, but I have to get ready for work now. Will post more later.

Another Day Another...

Here are the finished baby booties.

I finally finished the Creativity Basket. I used scrap yarn, and it is filled with more scrap yarn, so its not really holding its shape. I might add some plastic canvas as lining, but probably not.

I also finished a Boy Beanie for my brother. I used Lionbrand Wool-ease Thick & Quick and a size K hook.

I also finished the Ribbed-for-Her-Pleasure scarf. I used one skein of TLC Essentials. The whole skein, so no left over scraps. I have another skein of the same yarn that I might use to make a hat. When I get to the part for knitting in the round.

And here is what I have done so far on the Li'l Monkey Blanket. I have to do 4 more squares.

On a sadder note, I had another death in the family this weekend, so I will be away again for a week or so. Two deaths in one month...

Saturday, August 04, 2007

Okay, here is the progression on my 2x2 rib scarf. You can't really tell from the picture, but it is a little more than 4 inches long now. I am going to the beach next week for 6 days, so I am going to list the projects that I plan on taking. This scarf is one of them, though I don't plan on finishing it there. I get bored, so I have to have other projects going on.
This is the baby booties I was talking about in my last post. The pattern is by Candi Jensen and is in the August/September 06 issue of Crochet Today. I'm not done with that bootie yet, I still have to do the instep and the tongue. It seems kind of big, but the pattern says it is for 3-6 months. I didn't notice that until after I started, but I am going to finish them anyway. I am using Baby Bee Lambkins Baby Boucle' in Baby Blue. I got it from Hobby Lobby, I've only ever seen it there.
I also bought yarn to do this cardigan from the same issue of Crochet Today. You might notice that I am doing lots of patterns from this magazine. I have a lot of patterns and in order to make any of them, I have to narrow my focus, so I am working the patterns from this magazine that I like. It will be my first actual garment. I bought Red Heart Soft Yarn, as featured in the pattern, because like I said it will be my first garment, and the yarn was relatively inexpensive, so if I mess up, it won't cost me much. The color is Chocolate. I'm not putting the ribbon around the edges. I've been crocheting for a little over a year now, but I've made lots of stuff and am pretty confident that I can do this. Wish me luck. Also for my pregnant friend, I am going to make the Li'l Monkey baby blanket and hat from Stitch 'N Bitch: the Happy Hooker, but not in the colors featured in the book. I decided to use baby blue instead of red, the off white is the same yarn in the pattern, and I couldn't find the Bernat Softee Chunky Twists in the recommended yarn, so I went one lighter. I think it will be cute.

And last but not least I am bringing 4 different color yarns to make some boy beanies from the Happy Hooker. My boyfriend's 3 brothers want one, my brother wants one, and I want one. I probably won't be able to post again until I get back, but hopefully I will have lots of FO's to post. Have a good week.

Thursday, August 02, 2007

I haven't posted in a while because there was a death in the family and I was sad. So, I've been trying to knit now. I did this swatch in 2x2 rib.

Since I finished the swatch, I have actually started the Ribbed-for-her-pleasure scarf from Stitch-N-Bitch Nation. I also started a pair of baby booties for my friend who is having a baby. I'll post a picture when I finish. Okay, another photo of my dog.

Dog Days

Yesterday I had to take my dog to the vet to get a booster. On the way home we stopped by Petsmart and I bought her this stuffed toy. I rarely get her stuffed toys because she tears all the stuffing out, but she gets really nervous at the vet. Anyway, she was chewing on it's tail and she fell asleep. I will post more later today, hopefully.

Here I am

This is the little bear that I was working on a couple of posts ago. I finished it a couple of weeks ago, but I've been uninspired to post. That, and I was working on a scrapbook for my sister. I finished 5 pages, but I think I burned out temporarily.
I am very exicted about ACL Fest. I got a three day pass. I am most excited to see the Killers again. Also the White Stripes. There are many, many bands I want to see though. Hopefully it won't be too dusty.
So the Happy Hooker Crochet Along is going along pretty good. I feel like I need more structure, so I am going to work the projects in order, barring I like the pattern. I think the project I am going to make this month is the Stripes and Stripes Forever, but instead of a scarf, I am going to make a guitar strap. I need one.
Also I have had no time to knit. I'm still trying to get my apartment set up. It's going okay. I picked up Stitch 'N Bitch Nation for $3.something on Amazon. I was very excited, but I need to work on my knitting before tackle any big projects. I started one more crochet project. It is the Creativity Baskets from the first issue of Crochet Today. Specifically the basket that is taller than the other ones. I am making it out of scrap yarn to put my crap yarn in. I also starting making a magic yarn ball. (Tieing together any little scraps of yarn from projects no matter how small) I am going to make a blanket for my dogs crate, I think. It might be really cute and then I will have to make a pillow or something.
Well, that's all for now, hopefully I will start updating regularly again.

This hat is from the September/October '06 issue. I made it from the yarn it called for, Red Heart Bijou in Very Berry. It's shiney, I like it.
This is another one skein scarf from the Happy Hooker. I am actuall surprised that I've finished this, since I've been trying to unpack, but I guess I love crocheting so much I find little 5 minute slots to crochet anything.
This is a purse that I crocheted last summer. The lining was not very sturdy, so I ripped it out, and now that I have a sewing machine, I can put it back in better. Also I am going to add some ribbon to the inside of the strap to make it a bit more sturdy as well. I like this purse and want to use it.
I'm going to Ikea today to find a computer desk. My computer is on a box right now. That is why I haven't updated in a while. I think I am going to tackle some of my FOs now, we'll see.

Garden Scarf

I finished this while I was on the beach.

I'm back

Okay, I'm back from vacation where I finished two crochet items. I'm all moved, and ready to blog again. I will try to post some pictures later today.

Not much new

I've just been moving a lot. I got all of my yarn stash moved. I showed one of my friends that was keeping me company while I unpacked some stuff and she said Oh My God!. I am not ashamed. As soon as I get fully moved, or a chance to bring my camera to the new apartment, I will take a picture to show. I've been working on the blanket. It's about a foot long now. It's perfect to do while watching a movie, since it is the same stitch over and over. Also I am going to South Padre Island at the end of the month. I'm trying to think of some nice small projects to bring. I'll keep you posted.

Hi!

Just a quick update to let you know what I've been doing. I'm getting ready to start moving on Friday. I don't have any FOs, but I will post my WIPs for now. First, this little bear. All I have left is to sew on his face and head. For some reason I can't make myself do it.

Next is the Garden Scarf I am working on for the Happy Hooker Crochet along. It is coming along pretty good.

Here is an afghan I am working on for my boyfriend. It is the Waterfall afghan (pattern available on lionbrand.com). I really like the color of it.

Next up: Something I have been putting off since before Christmas. Momo the Octopus.

Then there is one of Roxycraft's snowmen, that I never finished:

In the background of that picture you can actually see my fat bottom bag that needs to be line, and two small pouch like bags that also need to be lined. Hopefully I'll get around to all of that soon. This next picture is another picture from my sister's wedding. It is such a nice picture.Hopefully I'll have some finished objects to post soon.
